Giving

Have you ever worried about a family member, a friend or elderly neighbor and their ability to get a proper meal?  If you have, you are not alone.  Rhode Island ranks 19th in the nation for food insecurity among seniors.  Whether it is an aging parent who finds difficulty in preparing a healthy meal or your neighbor who is recovering at home from a sickness or recent hospitalization, many people in our communities are unable to access adequate nutrition.

Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island, Inc. is focused on the nutritional well-being and safety of seniors, the home-bound and the disabled, providing a hot, healthy noon-time meal everyday.

Since 1969, Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island, Inc. has provided daily meals to those who would otherwise lack the nutrition they need to maintain their health and independence.  Each day our volunteers and drivers pack and deliver close to 1,600 meals throughout the state.  Our volunteers often are the only person — or visit a client might have that day.  Over time friendships are made, relationships are built and on occasion, lives are saved.

Because of your generous support and contributions, we are able to provide this meal and our service free of charge to our clients.

Last year, over 3,000 clients received a meal daily and the need continues to grow.  Your donation and support of Meals on Wheels will directly impact our ability to accomplish our Mission and fight senior hunger in Rhode Island.

Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island is a non profit organization funded in part by the Rhode Island Department of Elderly Affairs.  We depend and are grateful for the charitable gifts made by, you, our generous donors.  For additional giving opportunities, please contact our office directly at 401-351-6700.
