The Major Gifts Officer works closely with the Director, External Relations & Mission Advancement to develop and execute a major gifts program, managing a portfolio of prospects and donors and the research, cultivation and solicitation of major gifts to the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
– Develop and execute an annual major gifts program that supports fundraising goals as outlined in the strategic plan
– Implement an annual major gifts program that results in securing unrestricted gifts from individual donors of $5,000 and above
– Manage portfolio of a minimum of 25-50 donors and prospects through individualized stewardship plans that include written and verbal communications and in-person meetings, ensuring plans have clear and achievable goals and strategies that are compatible with and maximize fundraising opportunities
– Grow donor and prospect portfolio through research and identification of potential donors with capability of giving $5,000 and above
– Maintain accurate donor records with Meals on Wheels of RI CRM (DonorQuest)
– Represent Meals on Wheels of RI at events as needed
– Support fundraising efforts of the Director, External Relations & Mission Advancement and Executive Director

– Bachelor’s Degree, preferred

Work Environment
This position is not required to work within the organization’s building but is welcome to do so when office work is required.
Work is performed in a building. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and the environment is sometimes chaotic. Protocol for safety and security is a priority. Occasional work after normal business hours. Must be able to drive to other locations such as external meetings, within the state.
